May 11th 2008 Crossmolina 2-1 Swinford
Crossmolina won this cup the last time they participated in it and they got off to a good start in this year's competition too. After half an hour Derek Greham took a short throw to Darragh Carroll as the Swinford defence congregated in their own penalty area expecting a long delivery. Carroll fired a low cross across the face of goal and Paul McGuinness sidefooted home at the back post. Five minutes later the lead was doubled when Paul Flaherty sent a long delivery into the box from the left flank that Swinford's backpedalling defender only succeeding in heading skywards. When it dropped Greham was on hand to volley home emphatically from fifteen yards out. Gordon Carter squandered a good scoring opportunity after being set up by a clever Keith Regan chip on the hour mark. Swinford were always dangerous and they got their goal midway through the second half when Richie Dalton looped a twenty yard effort from the edge of the box that dipped under Morgan O'Malley's crossbar. Regan then lifted a snap-shot over the crossbar from near the penalty spot. .
